Sargsyan Samvel (was born on 5th December in 1944, in Leninakan-Gyumri, Armenia)-Mechanic, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

Scientific Biography

Education

• Leninakan branch of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute: faculty of mechanics (1962-1967), major “Devices of Correct Mechanics”;
• PhD: Yerevan State University, faculty of Mathematics and mechanics.

Academic Rank and Position

• Candidate of physical and mathematical sciences (from 1974);

• Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences (from 1987);

• Professor (from 1989г.);

• Corresponding member of NAS Armenia (from 2006);

• Head chair of theoretical mechanics in Leninakan branch of Yerevan Politechnical Institute (1986-1994);

• Rector of Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute after M. Nalbandyan (1994-1997);

• Head chair of mathematical analysis and differential equations of Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute (from 1995).

Work

• 1968-1994: in Leninakan branch of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute: assistant, aspirant, docent, professor, head chair of theoretical mechanics;

• from 1994 till now: head chair of Higher mathematics in Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute after M. Nalbandyan.

Direction of Activity

• Scientific research (научно-исследовательская, работа с учениками, выступления на международных научных конференциях, написание статей, книг и научно-методических пособий, рецензирование и оппонирование);

• Организационная работа (кафедра, советы, семинары, научные проекты);

• Преподавание (школьники, студенты, аспиранты, докторанты).

Scientific Interests

• Mechanics of thin walled systems (bars, plates and shells);

• Thermo-electro-magnetic mechanics of thin plates and shells;

• Mechanics of micropolar thin walled systems (bars, plates and shells);

• Discreet-continual models of mechanics.

• Member of International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(GAMM);

• Member of Euromech;

• Member of National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of Russia.

Teaching and Research-Community Activity

• Lectures: Theoretical mechanics, strength of materials, mathematical analysis;
• For PhD students: Mechanics of deformable bodies, variation calculus,numerical methods of analysis,computer modeling;
• Defense of dissertations: member of specialized council on mechanics-047 of HAC of Armenia;
• Editorial activities: member of editorial board of journal “Izvestiya NAS Armenia. Mechanics”; chief editor of journal “Scientific proceedings” of Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute after M. Nalbandyan.
